Sometimes my solutions work well, other times they teach me a lesson in how not to do things. I have a (deceased) stepfather to thank for inspiring me to be proactive with nail and hammer and duct tape. My husband is very supportive, and often provides a needed control valve when my lack of patience for details threatens to undermine a project. If you don't have someone to assist you when you are on a ladder, I have found it helpful to have (several) extra screws in my pockets, because they do tend to drop...
